Compress PDF

Make a PDF smaller, especially one with photos, with almost no visible change. Handy for email and upload limits.

How much smaller a file gets depends on what is inside, and some files hardly shrink. Strong lowers photo quality, so keep Standard for printing.

Your files are never sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Drop one PDF.
  2. Pick balanced (recommended), lossless, or strong.
  3. Press Run and download the smaller PDF; kami shows the size before and after.

Questions and answers

Will my PDF look worse?

Balanced only adjusts large photos, to a quality that still prints well; text and lines are untouched. Lossless changes no quality at all. Strong lowers photo quality further, for sending by email.

Why did the file barely shrink?

Some PDFs are already compressed, or contain mostly text, which is small to begin with. kami never makes a file bigger; if nothing can be saved you get the original back.

Is there a size limit?

Up to 500 MB per file. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no waiting, but large files depend on your device: on a phone about 200 MB is a sensible ceiling, and closing other tabs helps.
